- Green Minds Gardeners
At Green Minds we hold a weekly community gardening group for those local to the area to come and volunteer their time with our various organic gardening projects. Currently our gardening group are working on tending and developing a new communal food growing space and wildlife garden within the grounds of Brecon Cathedral.
The gardening sessions can provide a sense of calm and respite during life's everyday struggles and the sessions have helped to reduce some of the social isolation within our community and provided those involved with a sense of belonging and purpose.
Through the winter months we provide an indoor craft club in Brecon where we work with natural materials and run sessions such as felting, willow weaving and bird box making.
At Green Minds we offer a range of gardening and nature based activities throughout the seasons and we support our group members to nurture their connection to the garden at their own pace. We believe that when we begin to nurture the garden we begin to nurture ourselves. We develop this connection in many different ways such as learning about soil health, raising and growing plants from seed, taking ownership of the growing spaces and of course by enjoying the fruits and flowers of our labour. We approach our gardening sessions in an intentional and mindful way and always create space for listening, sharing and reflection.
If you would like to refer yourself directly to the gardening group or if you are a GP, mental health practitioner, support worker or social prescriber with a client in mind, please get in touch via our Contact Page
No previous gardening experience necessary!
